My Teaser this week comes from a book series I fell in love with. Its an YA series and has Dragon shifters in it. Im going to do 3 teasers this week, one from each book in the series, in hope you will read them and love them the way I do. xx
They did. “You gonna make me, Sorensson?” Suzanne spun the glasses by the ear wire as she taunted me. She pivoted to face me, bouncing a bit on the balls of her feet.
Ready to fight.
Confident that she could win. But she wasn’t bargaining on anger. I was mad enough to take her dare.
Maybe mad enough to win.
“You can only win if you don’t fight fair,” I challenged and saw her surprise. “Give her the glasses.”
“So, you want to fight, Sorensson?” Suzanne took a step toward me. Her team laughed and circled behind me.
Meagan took advantage of their distraction. She lunged for Suzanne, but Trish body-checked her. Meagan slipped on the wet tiles. She slammed her back into the wall and caught her breath, blinking rapidly. I knew that had hurt.
They laughed.
And I saw red.
A shimmering heat began to boil inside of me, feeding on my anger and becoming stronger. I knew what it was, what it had to be, even though I’d never felt it before.
If I’d been thinking, I would have shoved it back in its jar.
I wasn’t thinking: I was mad.
“As if you could take me,” Suzanne whispered to me. Her eyes were dancing. She was so sure she’d win.
For once, I didn’t step back. For once, I didn’t back away. For once, I was ready to challenge expectations.
The red tide of fury seethed and I let it.
The way I saw it, Jared had chosen the venue because he expected me to come.
Or he was daring me.
He’s like that. Irreverent. Challenging.
Hot.
Whether it was to deliver the flight on Dragon Air that I owed him, to snag another kiss—just to verify that the first one had, in fact, been amazing and of the bone-melting variety—or to barter for another peek at the book he had on my kind, didn’t really matter.
I wanted to go.
I needed to go.
Meagan sat back. Of course she knew. Her mouth fell open and she raised a hand to her lips. No! she mouthed, clearly wanting me to say yes.
It is so tedious to try to surprise a brilliant individual, you know. Impossible, maybe.
I tried to act like I didn’t understand her, but we’ve known each other way too long for that. I’d been hoping to make her wait for it, at least until we went to bed, but no luck. Meagan was too excited.
She scribbled a note and shoved it across the table at me, interrupting my consideration of English lit question number 29.
Her expression was expectant as I read it.
Actually, she was bouncing in her chair, vibrating with such excitement that I knew I’d done exactly the right thing.
This was my Teaser this week, I hope it makes you give these books a try. Now please come share yours with me. xx
