INTERVIEW

Well today people I'm going to be talking to a lady called Lisa DARLING,
Lisa has been married for the last 25 years to her wonderful husband, Roy. The two live in New London, CT where they raised two (now adult) daughters. She is the winner of more than 20 awards for her previous works in the Stargate SG-1 and House, MD fandoms, including the prestigious Blue Moon Awards and White Board Awards.

Leaving fandom stories behind and returning to her roots as an all-original hard-hitting author of dark and gritty romance today Lisa brings conflict, passion, love, and suspense to unique couples through her full length novels. Never one to shy away from the less pleasant things in life, and instead believing it is in the Darkness where Character is created, determined, and defined, her heroes and heroines have their love tested by demons from within and without.

Lisa proudly boasts that her writing career began in her junior high school years, around the 7th grade. A fact which her fellow students adored but often got her called down to the Guidance Counselor's Office to discuss her stories. Not deterred by the counselors but instead spurred onward by them, her teachers, and her classmates, Lisa continued to hone her craft throughout those formative years.

SATIN- For all your fans out there tell us 5 things we don't already know about you....

LISA-That's not easy to do, my life is the proverbial open book and if you read my blog you know that! But let's see….
A.    I'm agoraphobic (it means I'm afraid to leave my house and have a limited 'comfort zone' in which I will travel alone) and have been for ages but I work on it as best as I can.
B.      I like to garden and am having a very good year with my tomato plants
C.    I love "Classic Rock" but hate the term! It makes me feel so old
D.    I grab a bowl of cereal for a midnight snack—the sweeter the cereal the better
E.     My favorite beer is Blue Moon

SATIN- How did you get into writing? When did you first think, "This is what i want to do." And what book was your very first book out.

LISA -I started writing in 4thgrade when my teacher gave the class its very first creative writing assignment. At first I didn't understand when she gave us a small piece of paper and a pencil telling us to write her 'a story about a baby bird's first flight'. We got up to read our stories to the class. Everybody's baby bird had a grand first flight and everyone lived happily ever after. I got up, I read my story. My baby bird died. It flew too high, hit an airplane, and fell to the ground dead. The mama bird cried, the poppa bird cried, even God cried as it started to rain. The class was dumbfounded. My teacher just stared at me. I don't actually remember writing the story but I kept it for decades it's on a small piece of blue triple lined paper. I got on A+ on it. As I was writing it I knew that I found the thing I was going to do the rest of my life. Everyone said I'd change my mind that I'd want to be a doctor or a lawyer or something but I never did.
Absolute bottom line first "book" of mine to "come out" was a fanfiction novel based on "Highlander: The Series" entitled Highlander: Forever. That was when I first got on the Internet and was able to start getting anything I ever wrote just 'out there' in any manner (this was back in the early 90s) so it was quite thrilling in its own way to put it up, have people read it, contact me loving it. That was awesome.

SATIN-  When and if you ever have free time to relax and enjoy yourself, how do you like to spend it?

LISA -Writing. It's my escape and my guiltiest of guilty pleasures. Some days it feels like work but those days are few and far between so I'm very lucky in that regard. Hubby and I also like to hang-out together even after 27 years! We go for drives and on hot dog hunts (looking for the best hole-in-the-wall for hot dogs in southeastern Connecticut) and we like to play FRPGs. I'm always the mage.

SATIN- How many books have you written all together and out of all the books you have written, who is your favorite character and why? But also who is your least favorite and why?

LISA- If we're going to count all of the novels I've ever actually written we're over 40 with probably 40 short stories. I only have four on the market with numbers 5, 6, and 7 to follow by the end of 2011. Most of my novels were available free on the Internet for a very long time and were associated with a long-running fanfiction series entitled "Daughter of the Gods". There are also two very early novels, written in 7th grade and in my early 20s that will never see the light of day. I love them but it would take so much work to go back and redo them, especially for digital format, that it's a project I might get to one day when I'm old and completely gray.
My favorite character is Ares God of War just because we've been together for so long. Nearly 20 years we've been doing this but "The Heart of War" is his first 'starring role'. I always thought Ares God of War was a very misunderstood character to begin with and I wanted to show him in all of his Black Tarnished Glory in this novel. A lot of people love it and a lot of people don't get it. He's a double-edge sword but the best one you'll ever have on your side.
My most hated character was named 'Andrew Hartley' and he was a real SOB who came in around the middle of my Stargate series to break up the marriage between 'Daniel Jackson' and my original character 'Calla' (daughter of Ares, of course!). Andy was HOT, he was GORGEOUS, he was rich, he was sophisticated and he was a user and an abuser from the word 'go'. He finally got his, Ares ripped his heart through his chest while he was still alive. J

SATIN- I was wondering if you could tell us a little about your latest piece of work that you're working on and when will it be released.

LISA- The Two Part sequel to "The Heart of War" will release in paperback on Halloween and is entitled "Child of War-A God is Born". Ares and Alena will welcome their son Raven into the world and the story will follow him up until age 14 or so. If you liked "The Omen" you'll love this. The kid is a handful to say the least! On December 31, 2011 "Child of War-Rising Son" will release in paperback and will pick up with Raven coming of age. There will be lots of plot twists and intrigue not to mention sex!

SATIN-Name one entity that you feel supported you out side of your family.

LISA- The Muse. He's always been with me and he will always be with me. He's my biggest fan, my biggest critic, my biggest tormentor and one of my greatest friends.

SATIN- Who designs your front covers and do you get much say in what they look like?

LISA- I have 100% control over my covers because I do them all.

SATIN- Okay I like to ask one totally random question, because I'm really strange like that. LOL. Have you ever dreamed you were in a story out of a book....one of your own or someone Else's?
LISA- I'll point you to my novel "Dream Weaver" for the answer. (How's that for a shameless plug?! But it's true, it holds ALL of the answers to that question)

SATIN-I would like to thank you again for taking time out of your busy life to answer these questions because i know you're a very busy person. Is there anything you would like to Say to all your fans out there?

LISA- Thank you very much for reading and taking these journeys with me! I don't mind 'stalkers' but I love 'friends' so if you're out there, don't be afraid, I don't bite…hard. Step on up and say 'hello'
