Description:n this pulse-pounding and thrillingly sensual novel, New York Timesbestselling author Lara Adrian returns to the mesmerizing world of the Midnight Breed, following new characters into a dark future where an uneasy peace can unravel into war—and a great betrayal can mask an all-consuming love.

Twenty years after the terror of First Dawn—when mankind learned that vampires lived secretly among them—the threat of violence reigns as the two species struggle to coexist. The only group preserving the fragile harmony is the Order, an elite cadre of Breed warriors dedicated to protecting humans and vampires alike. And in this precarious world of torn loyalties and shattered trust, Mira, a fiery squad captain, finds that every fight bears an intensely personal cost.

Raised among the Order, Mira has always believed in the warrior’s code of swift—and even lethal—justice. But the one thing she desires more than the Order’s hard-won acceptance is Kellan Archer, a sexy but troubled Breed fighter. In love with him since childhood, Mira once broke through his tough exterior during an unexpected night of rapture, but the next day he mysteriously disappeared, never to return.

Kellan didn’t think he would ever see Mira again—or have to confront the truth of why he left. After abandoning the Order years ago, he now leads a band of human rebels intent on carrying out their own vigilante rule of law. Yet a high-profile kidnapping assignment brings him face-to-face with the past he sought to avoid, and the striking woman he has tried desperately to forget. And as tensions mount and the risk of bloodshed grows, Kellan and Mira must take sides—between the competing missions that dominate their lives, and the electrifying passion that claims their hearts

Review:
Mira a Breedmate who has grow up the order as her family, taken in as such a small child. Now she is a grown woman and fights along side the order to deal with the rebels that want to destroy  peace between human and breed. Mia is dealing with a long standing heartache. a love lost to world 8 years earlier. She blames the rebels for his loss and makes it her mission to make them pay. But this leads to Mira getting benched from patrols and put on a private mission to see the safety of  a human scientist. but while on her mission she gets kidnapped along with the scientist. Mira is taken to Bowman the head of the Rebels. she gets a big shock when she see that a blast from the past is the one true love she thought was dead.

Kellen is Breed and once a part of the order. One day he finds himself there enemy when he becomes the leader of the rebel team. He gave up his old life to protect his love from a future that is for told by a vision.  on one of his missions he comes face to face with Mira again and there love takes off where its left off but things arent all rosey because one of Kellen's rebel team mates takes off with the scientist and holds him for ransom to the highest bidder. This creates great problems of Kellen and the order because the Scientist holds the key to a new weapon that could wipe out all breed.

We get to see lots of the old characters in this book as well as some new ones Because we read that the order has a new otherworldly enemy and they all have to come together to take them down.

I guess that better be all I tell you about the story, I dont want to give  to much away. But iv skimmed round the outline in hope that it draws you in to this wonderful story.

Im a big fan of the Breed series and im always so happy when a new book comes out But I have to say I had my doubts about this one because its set in the future, 20 years on from the last book and I couldnt see how it was going to work. but I pushed through and read it and im happy to say I loved it. I loved seeing  that Mira had turned into a spunky young woman and that she was able to fight along side the men and hold her own.  and Kellen is no longer that geeky little boy, and oh boy has he turned in to a MAN!!.  I thought I would struggle with these grown up characters because I loved the kids so much but Know I could still see the kids there even with the changes.

Lara is an amazing writer, I dont think there is many authors out there that could jump 20 years into the future and still keep you interested. She has managed to make me fall in love with the new characters but keep you loving the old ones. I find with some long series that the books loose something  along the way and I end up  falling out of love with them, but I really dont think this series is going to be one of them. there is some new characters that I really cant wait to read more about.

RATING OF 5 LIPS
